Factors to consider when buying a refrigerator:
1. Refrigerator style:
There are primarily 6 different types of refrigerators. They are top freezer, bottom freezer, side by side, French door, counter-depth and mini-fridge. All these refrigerators depend on your needs, the size of your house, number of people in your household etc. If you have a big house, a more expensive side-by-side refrigerator is a good option. If you’re living alone, a small top freezer or mini fridge on EMI also works.
2. Refrigerator Capacity:
This depends a lot on what kinds of food you want to store. They are of two kinds of capacities – high freezer capacity and high vegetable capacity. Make sure you research this when you buy a no-cost EMI refrigerator. If you’re a vegetarian who doesn’t store a lot of frozen foods, it makes sense to go for the latter. If you store a lot of meat and frozen fish, chocolates and readymade frozen foods, a high freezer capacity is the best option.
3. Type of defrosting:
When buying a fridge on EMI, consider if you want a direct cool or a frost freeze refrigerator. A direct cool system saves more energy, preserves food for a shorter amount of time, requires manual defrosting and uses natural convection to keep the fridge cool. A frost freeze refrigerator saves lesser energy, preserves food for much longer, automatically defrosts the foods and uses electric fans for cooling. Choose well when you buy a refrigerator on EMI.
4. Energy consumption:
With greater power comes greater bills. On each refrigerator, you will find a sticker with star ratings on the top-right corner. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) uses a star rating system to determine your fridge’s energy consumption. Higher the number of stars, lower is the energy consumption. Always go for a low energy consumption refrigerator on EMI. This will save you a lot of unnecessary costs.
5. Inverter Compressor:
Your fridge will either have an inverter compressor or a normal compressor. An inverter compress makes less noise, saves you more money and is much more energy-efficient than a normal compressor.
6. Refrigerator Brand:
When you buy a no-cost EMI refrigerator, it’s really important that you invest in a good brand which promises a good warranty, service and maintenance. Top brands such as Samsung, Whirlpool, LG, Hitachi etc should be your top choices while buying a fridge on EMI.
